what is SSE?
“Somatic sex education can include coaching in breath, movement, body awareness, boundary-setting, communication, anatomy, sensate focus, massage, and other body-based teaching about sex. Somatic sex education is designed to nurture, deepen or awaken the sensual self.”

SSE is a therapeutic modality that works with embodiment, pleasure, and resilience to expand eroticism in everyday life.
Somatic sex educators often introduce movement, breath, vocalization, and communication exercises to explore and work with the client’s physiological and relational patterns.
SSE helps clients build their capacity to feel their own physical sensations and make decisions from an embodied place.
SSE practitioners guide clients in building a sense of nuanced consent, voice, and choice, leading to client-guided sessions.
Working with embodied impacts of trauma, historical dispossession, and internalized supremacy is an integral part of SSE work.
The SSE field grew out of the ingenuity, creativity, and resilience of sex workers, and continues to blossom due to their practice.
SSE is regulated by a set of living ethics held by processes of peer support and accountability.
